SWFL Chambers Provide Post-Ian Business Updates
Last Updated: January 22, 2026
What condominiums, restaurants, retail stores and attractions are open after Hurricane Ian?
It's been 16 months since Hurricane Ian made landfall in Southwest Florida and everyone wants to know what businesses are open and how things are progressing in general. The questions are endless and the best place to turn for the most accurate updated information are the local Chambers of Commerce. With over a dozen Chambers in Southwest Florida, we hope to simplify these resources. Each Chamber is updating members and guests about the state of Southwest Florida and the Barrier Islands. On January 29th the Sanibel Captiva Chamber of Commerce provided a comprehensive State of the Islands to a sold out crowd.
Southwest Florida Chambers of Commerce Include: Boca Grande, Cape Coral, Southwest Florida (Serving Lee, Collier, Charlotte, Hendry & Glades Counties), East Lee County, Greater Estero, Greater Fort Myers Beach, Greater Fort Myers, Lee County Chamber, Pine Island, North Fort Myers, and Sanibel & Captiva Islands Chamber of Commerce. We also have tremendous support from Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau (VCB). The majority of businesses affected by Hurricane Ian are members of the Greater Fort Myers Beach and Sanibel & Captiva Islands Chambers of Commerce and for this reason we will focus on these coastal chambers to illustrate how many businesses are open now. We hope you will spread this good news! Southwest Florida's beautiful barrier islands are bouncing back and we look forward to a bright future.
Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce Message to Visitors: WE’RE STILL REBUILDING, BUT WE’RE READY FOR YOU! Fort Myers Beach businesses are ready to welcome you back to the island with accommodations, food and fun! A lot of rebuilding remains to be done, but we still have the sunshine, our sugar sand beach and the spectacular sunrises and sunsets our island is famous for. So please come see us, and support our community as we build back better than ever! For a complete list of all open businesses visit The Fort Myers Beach Chamber Director of Businesses.

Experts agree that when the coastal communities rebuild is complete, Southwest Florida properties will be more valuable. They will be remodeled, inside and out. While many of us loved the quirky buildings that held fond memories, most were built before building codes included strict construction practices and products that can withstand some of the strongest storms. Many on the Pfeifer Team live on Sanibel where beeping from backing trucks, concrete saws, and lines of contractor traffic are common. We remain very thankful to everyone willing to come help us rebuild as we look forward to the beautiful paradise that will result from these efforts. We hope you will too!
